We love seeing new patients and we're excited to talk about your family's orthodontic care. We've set aside special time during your first visit to get to know you and discuss your concerns. Our goal is to provide treatment that is uniquely designed for each patient.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children receive an orthodontic exam after the eruption of the permanent first molars, which is usually around the age of seven years. While treatment is most often not needed at this age, this exam allows us to evaluate development of the teeth and jaws, gather baseline data, and advise you about what to expect in the future if treatment is not yet indicated.
Initial Exam
Your first visit to our office is designed to introduce you to our practice and address your concerns about your teeth.

During this visit Dr. Battistoni
or Beam will perform a complete oral and facial exam to determine if orthodontic treatment is appropriate, determine if this is the right time to begin treatment, and provide you with complete information about the nature of your orthodontic concerns. We will answer any questions
regarding treatment, explain the treatment process as it relates to your goals and expectations, and determine the approximate length of treatment. Afterward,
a treatment coordinator will organize an individualized payment plan, discuss any insurance considerations, and help you schedule the next step in the
treatment process — diagnostic records. If a young patient is not quite ready for treatment, he/she is placed on observation and seen every six to 12
months to monitor growth and development.
Diagnostic Records
If treatment is indicated, diagnostic records are scheduled. Diagnostic records — including panoramic and cephalometric
radiographs, impressions of the teeth to create plaster models, and photographs of your teeth and face — enable Drs. Battistoni and Beam to develop an
individualized, facially driven treatment plan providing a broad, beautiful smile.
Consultation/Bonding
At the consultation/bonding appointment your treatment plan will be discussed and, after you have a thorough understanding of your specific orthodontic
problems, Dr Battistoni or Beam will place your appliances (braces). Occasionally, in extremely complex cases or cases requiring jaw surgery, braces are
not placed at the consultation visit to allow you to spend the entire appointment discussing the case with the doctor.
Before Drs. Battistoni and Beam start your treatment, you will probably need to visit your general dentist for a cleaning and cavity check. While
you are in braces you will need to continue to see your dentist every three to six months to ensure healthy teeth and gums.
